Elephant & Castle: A dog friendly London guide

Sometimes a day or evening out isn’t quite the same when we know our furry friends have been left at home. And for some, lockdown and Covid has made our pets even more accustomed to having us around. Luckily, a number of pubs, restaurants, and even shops, are now allowing dogs. 

Here’s a run-down of dog friendly London hotspots, places to go, and things to do, within easy reach of Elephant Park. 

The staff at The Elephant and Castle are bona-fide animal lovers, no matter how busy it is. Reviews on several websites are testament to that.

The atmosphere here is casual – often there’s live sports and the food is great, too. Ask the bar team for a bowl of water for your pup and they will quickly oblige. A truly dog friendly London hotspot, in every sense of the word!

Home to 20 draught beer lines serving primarily London craft beers and a huge selection of wines, spirits and Welsh coffee, The Tap In is another perfect spot if you’re looking for a dog friendly London pub.

With a beer garden for brighter days, Wi-Fi available and huge TV screens, it’s a great night out watching the latest football fixtures, with two-legged and four-legged friends in tow!

Part of Elephant Stores, Little Louie is the little brother of London establishment Louie Louie. Café by day, wine bar with DJs by night, it’s got a little bit of everything.

Pooches are welcome in Little Louie, and they’ll even offer your pup a doggy ice-cream! A perfect stop when you’re strolling around Elephant Park on a warmer day.

Welcoming puppers of all shapes and sizes, so long as they’re on a lead, Mercato Metropolitano is large, spacious and has many outdoor areas to stop your pup from feeling too claustrophobic. 

You will also find that some of their street food operators have menu items especially for four-legged friends. So, keep your eyes peeled when perusing what’s on offer. Be aware that they have music in the outdoor bar areas, which may be a little overwhelming for some dogs.

If you’re a fan of Mercato, you’ll love their Elephant Park outpost, MMy. If your pup is a little more on the nervous side and prefers the quiet, or if you’d like to have easy access to outdoor spaces, this little corner will be ideal.

Open 7 days a week with no booking or dress code required, it’s the perfect place to pop in with your four-legged friend for a coffee first thing, or on your lunch break if you’re working from home nearby.

Four Quarters only joined us in summer 2021, and it’s one for those who love gaming as much as their pets. Four Quarters at Elephant Park is happy to welcome dogs and provide them with refreshments while you work up a thirst on retro arcade games. 

Why not grab a group of friends and hire out one of the gaming pods? You can take dog-sitting in turns while each of you plays a round. 

After being inspired by the greenery in the park, why not take a piece home from The Nunhead Gardener? Selling green goods for your garden and home, you’ll also find homeware goodies like candles, accessories and a range of natural skincare and beauty products. You can shop the lot, with your best furry friend by your side.

Known for its boozy bottomless brunches, Tupi offers a casual, colourful place to enjoy a mixture of British and South American staple dishes – it’s the perfect place if you’re looking for a dog friendly London breakfast spot.

And, with happy hour Monday – Friday between the hours of 4pm and 8pm, you can enjoy £5 cocktails alongside a range of well-designed drinks featuring South American spirits.

Elephant Springs is a natural play area that offers just as much fun for dogs as it does for humans. 

If you’re visiting with a four-legged friend, all we ask is that you keep them on a lead. You’ll find Elephant Springs in the corner of the park adjacent to Ash Avenue.
