Where to watch Wimbledon near Elephant & Castle

After a 24 month hiatus, Wimbledon has once again opened its doors, as the 134^th Wimbledon Championships begins.

Sadly, the 2021 tournament won’t be hosting its famous daily ticket queue, nor will the public be cheering on from Murray Mound, so if you don’t have tickets for Wimbledon, you’ll have to make other arrangments. Thankfully though, we’re here to give you the lowdown on where to watch Wimbledon in Elephant and Castle this summer.

First to serve is The Prince of Wales on St George’s Road. It’s been around for years and is as traditional a London pub you’ll ever find. And being around for years really pays off; with a selection of fine ales, a Sunday roast, and some of the best fish and chips in the area, they really know what they’re doing. With big screens throughout showing all major sports, you won’t miss a minute of this year’s Wimbledon action.

Although it’s called the Tap In, this football-focused sports bar will be showing all the tennis from Wimbledon alongside all the Euro 2020 action across its 5 big screens. This cool Elephant Park bar has an enviable beer menu, with 20 craft beers on draught, and more than 200 bottles and cans from all round the world. There are no strawberries and cream on the menu, but Brick City are currently in-residence in the kitchen – they’ll be serving up the biggest, juiciest burgers right through until the final set.

Situated across from – and named after - the traditional home of British boxing, The Ring has sport running through its veins. With walls adorned with some of the greatest sporting champions in history, where better to watch Wimbledon crown its tennis champions in 2021. There’s a rotating craft beer selection, a daily-changing Thai menu courtesy of Johnny Rice, the £7 weekday lunchtime curry, and plenty of outdoor seating. It’s also in a prime spot right on the corner of Blackfriars Road and The Cut so if you’d rather watch people than watch tennis, they’ve got you sorted too.

The Spit & Sawdust is making a name for itself as one of the top places to watch sports in the area. With three massive screens, you’ll see all of the action. You can treat yourself to food as well, with their simple, effective menu paying homage to all our favourite fast food joints, making it one of the best places for pub food in Elephant & Castle. P.S. this is also one of the most dog-friendly bars in London, so you’ll probably get to enjoy the company of brilliant dogs. It even has its own dog bar!

Moments from the train station, The Elephant and Castle is perfect if you’re meeting friends from further afield in the city. Its large outdoor seating area is also a great option for a sunny day – al fresco beers and tennis. Murray Mound? What’s that? Tuck into the bar snacks, which are bound to be as tantalising as the tennis… Scampi? Nah – crab fries with lemon, spring onion, and sriracha mayo. Dry scotch egg? Nope – we’ll have some black pudding and fennel in that please. What’s especially great about The Elephant and Castle is that they hold back some of their seating for walk-ins only, meaning it’s a great place for those spontaneous Elephant Park days out.
