Elephant Park developer Lendlease UK has cemented its green credentials with another two major awards for sustainability.

At the prestigious Housebuilder Awards in London, the company was crowned Sustainable Housebuilder of the Year – for the second year running.

And, in front of nearly 600 guests at the black tie event, Lendlease also won Best Sustainable Scheme for South Gardens at Elephant Park.

The annual awards – run by the Home Builders Federation (HBF) and in partnership with National House Building Council (NHBC) – celebrates excellence in the industry, with accolades handed out to recognise innovation and expertise in house building.

At Elephant Park, South Gardens features 360 homes, featuring a mix of apartments and three-storey townhouses – all of which are designed to be at least 35 per cent more energy efficient than current regulations require. Fifteen of the new homes have been built to the ultra efficient ‘passivhaus standard’. There is also a strong focus on urban nature, with mature trees enhanced by the planting of new semi-mature trees.

Green transport is also encouraged, with charging points for electric vehicles, and new pedestrian walkways and cycle routes.

South Gardens has won a multitude of plaudits this year, including the 2018 Housing Design Awards, the Construction News Award for Sustainable Project of the Year, the Royal Institute of British Architecture London Award. It was also named Supreme Winner at the Brick Awards 2017.
