Have yourself a Latin little Christmas
Here’s an invitation to the kick off the party season in Latin American style – with a Christmas market to bring a bit of warmth to winter.
And Comida Fest, which organisers claim is Europe’s biggest Latin American food event, will be indoors for the first time when it opens its debut Christmas market in Southwark on Friday.
So grab a slice of Feliz Navidad over the weekend at the Ugly Duck, in Tanner Street, Bermondsey.
Not only will you get to sample authentic Latin American food and drink, there’s also a shopping area where you can start (and maybe finish!) your Christmas gift-buying. Original crafts and produce, from alpaca wool to jewellery, and a host of other hand-designed creations will be available.
You’ll be able to take a gastronomic journey across central and south America – sampling delights from, among others, Peru, Brazil, Venezuela and Colombia – and pairing them with a tantalising selection of wine and beer, spirits and cocktails.
Some of the traders featured include Smoko, Tayrona, Teqcoola, Hungry Llama, Obly, Boca and Caleno.
Of course, no Latin American event would be complete without a serious injection of dancing, and Comida Fest promises not disappoint. From live Brazilian music on Friday from 5pm, to DJ sets, to dance workshops on Saturday afternoon and a Viva Latin America party later – there are even baby discos on Sunday – the vibe will warm and fun.
The weekend will kick off on Friday November 30 at noon, running until 11pm on both Friday and Saturday, and finishing at 8pm on Sunday.
Hasta la fiesta!
