jobs and training
Since construction began in 2013, the regeneration has already created hundreds of job and training opportunities. We are investing heavily to ensure that as many of these as possible go to local people.
We will deliver:
- 5,000 construction jobs
- 1,000 jobs in the completed development
- A construction skills centre in partnership with Southwark Council

Jobs for local people
Be Onsite is the organisation tasked with ensuring that local people gain employment on our sites, an award-winning national not-for-profit company established by Lendlease. If you are looking for work and can show commitment and motivation, then please get in contact with Be Onsite’s partner Southwark Works who will provide you with advice and support to access the jobs and training opportunities we have available.
We are already making progress and so far have helped over 800 Southwark residents to find work on our sites, of which almost half of whom were previously unemployed.
About Be Onsite
Be Onsite’s comprehensive and inclusive selection procedure focuses on matching local people to real jobs on site and helps individuals to understand what will be expected of them in both training and eventual employment.
Be Onsite look for people who may not necessarily have a high level of academic achievement or experience but who show a keenness and desire to develop a career in the construction industry. Once in employment they provide tailored pastoral support alongside specific training directly relevant to the job on offer.
Designed to meet the specific needs of the property industry, Be Onsite trains and employs a hugely diverse group of individuals, transforming lives and regenerating communities. They help tackle the poverty and disadvantage that blights some of our most deprived areas by generating growth and employment. For further information please visit: www.beonsite.org.uk
Southwark Construction Skills Centre
In 2016, the Southwark Construction Skills Centre was opened at Elephant Park. A partnership between Southwark Council and Lendlease, the Skills Centre will provide construction skills training to over 1,000 people each year.
Being based onsite at Elephant Park means the students are training in the heart of one of the country’s largest regeneration sites. With classrooms for study, a workshop for practice plus an outdoor training yard, the trainees are getting practical, first-hand experience of the industry at a major, live construction site.
