The Elephant & Castle Community Fund is open for applications
Applications are now being invited for funding support from this year’s Elephant & Castle Community Fund.
The initiative was introduced in 2012 by Lendlease and Southwark Council to give financial support to organisations that benefit people who live, work and study within Elephant & Castle. It was initially launched to support organisations during the regeneration of the area and has continued every year since, thanks to continuing donations from Lendlease and Southwark Council.
Grants of between £500 and £10,000 are available to successful applications for projects that support residents within the ‘Elephant & Castle Opportunity Area’.
The opportunity area covers the heart of Elephant and Castle, including the streets in and around Elephant & Castle tube station, St George’s Road, Walworth Road, part of New Kent Road and Newington Causeway. To date, the fund has awarded 48 grants, investing more than £225,000 into this special part of London.
Applications are welcome from organisations including community groups, registered charities, tenants and residents’ associations, firms limited by guarantee or community interest companies.
As well as benefiting communities within the opportunity area, applications must also meet at least one of the five following themes:
- Further education, skill building, training and entrepreneurship
- Arts and culture
- Older residents
The deadline for applications is Monday 8 April, 2019. For full details of how to apply, application guidelines, a map of the Elephant & Castle Opportunity Area and to submit your application, visit www.londoncf.org.uk/grants/elephant-castle-community-fund.
A funding workshop run by Community Southwark and The London Community Foundation will be running on Thursday 7 March from noon until 2pm to offer help to groups wishing to apply.
