The Original Elmer
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the first Andersen Press publication of the much-loved Elmer the Elephant children’s books. Elmer is a multi-coloured elephant who lives among a grey herd, and was worried about fitting in. Written and illustrated by David McKee, the charming tales of the patchwork elephant have sold more than 10 million copies worldwide, becoming a children’s icon. With their bright illustrations and endearing stories, the timeless Elmer titles portray the message that it’s OK to be different and stand out from the crowd – just like Elmer and his many colours.
