Chaplin – a night of local film
Thursday 5 July
Free, just stop by
Come and enjoy an evening dedicated to the rich cinema history of the local Elephant & Castle area, including a screening of some classic Charlie Chaplin films.
There’ll be shorts from our neighbours over at the Cinema Museum, and a couple from the Brandon Estate Cine Club. Enjoy a look back at Walworth life with Two Bob’s Worth of Trouble – a wonderful film made by year 3 of Walworth School in the early 1960s – featuring East Street, Burgess Park and many other areas around Walworth.
Rounding off the evening with our local lad Charlie (he was born in Walworth), sit back and enjoy the Chaplin classics, Easy Street and Immigrant. You’ll be transported back in time as Chaplin appears as an usher to top up your popcorn and raise a few laughs.
