COST: Free to attend
Discover the art of dance and the diverse talent within the local Elephant and Castle community at an exciting event, hosted by Superarts Academy, to mark International Dance Day 2019. Check out the Facebook Event Page here.
International Dance Day was established by the International Theatre Institute in 1982 to increase global awareness of dance as an art form. Superarts Academy is a Southwark-based performance arts school that has been delivering classes in various dance disciplines to young people since 1962.
Featuring live dance performances in a variety of styles, hands-on workshops and a charity dance-athon, this free, family-friendly event at Elephant Park seeks to celebrate different forms of dance from across the world.
From street dancing to Bollywood and ballet to hip-hop, if you enjoy dancing in any form, this event is for you. There is even a chance to raise money for a worthwhile cause by taking part in an hour-long dance-athon from 4pm, in aid of CHARITY: WATER, a non-profit organisation that brings clean and safe drinking water to people living in developing countries. To take part, simply bring along a water bottle and fill it up with donations from friends and family while dancing.
The day will finish with a dance party, featuring hip-hop, funk and soul music, in a set performed by Chocolate Bear Productions.
Join Superarts Academy, plus a host of local dance groups, schools and clubs, on 27 April, from 11am to 7pm, for an energetic day of dance at Elephant Park. This event is free to attend and caters for all levels of dance experience.
